Provider Identification & Licensure

I am a licensed LCMHCA in North Carolina and practice under clinical supervision in accordance with North Carolina licensure requirements by Ilse Sucely de Leon, MABC, LCMHC-NC/QS, LPC-TX. I provide telehealth therapy to individuals physically located in North Carolina at the time of service.

I work with individual adults, teens, and children ages 8 and older.
Services are private pay.

Primary Fit Anchor

I help children (8+), teens, and adults who are struggling with the lasting effects of childhood trauma — including emotional neglect and physical, sexual, or emotional abuse — as well as trauma-related PTSD.

Using EMDR therapy and trauma-focused approaches, I help clients process painful experiences, reduce trauma symptoms, and build healthier relational and emotional patterns.

While I work with all genders, much of my practice centers on women ages 22–55 who are healing from childhood trauma and relational wounds.

Strong Fit Contexts

I often work with individuals who grew up in families where emotional needs were overlooked, minimized, or met with instability. Many learned to adapt early — becoming hyper-aware, overly responsible, emotionally guarded, or disconnected from their own needs.

As they get older, the impact of those early experiences may show up as:

  • Anxiety or chronic worry

  • Depression or emotional numbness

  • Flashbacks or intrusive memories

  • Hypervigilance or feeling constantly “on edge”

  • Persistent shame related to early experiences

  • Difficulty trusting others

  • Fear of abandonment

  • Repeating painful relationship dynamics

  • Strong emotional reactions that feel confusing or disproportionate

I am especially attuned to working with women navigating how early trauma continues to shape self-worth, attachment patterns, and relationship choices in adulthood.

Not the Right Fit

This may not be the best fit if:

  • You are currently in an actively unsafe or violent situation requiring emergency support or crisis intervention.

  • You are seeking court-ordered evaluations or custody recommendations.

  • You are experiencing active substance dependence or unmanaged psychosis.

  • You require crisis stabilization or a higher level of care than outpatient trauma therapy can provide.

I provide outpatient trauma-focused therapy and do not offer forensic services or crisis response.

Therapeutic Approach & Style

I use EMDR therapy and trauma-informed approaches to help clients process unresolved memories, reduce emotional reactivity, and build more secure attachment patterns.

My approach is emotionally attuned and structured. Sessions focus on understanding how early experiences shaped your nervous system, core beliefs, and relationships while actively working toward practical, measurable change.

With children and teens, therapy is developmentally appropriate and tailored to support emotional regulation and trauma processing in a safe, supportive way.

Credentials & Experience

I specialize in developmental and relational trauma rooted in childhood emotional neglect, abuse, and family dysfunction.

I have completed EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training in EMDR and use this modality to support clients experiencing trauma-related PTSD, attachment disruption, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties.

My work centers on the connection between early experiences and current emotional, relational, and nervous system patterns.

Practical Details & Constraints

  • Telehealth sessions (North Carolina only)

  • Individual therapy only

  • Ages 8+

  • Private pay

Child and teen sessions are individual therapy. I do not provide custody evaluations or court-involved treatment.

Strong Match Indicators

This may be a strong fit if you:

  • Grew up in a high-conflict, emotionally unstable, or unpredictable home

  • Experienced emotional neglect or physical, sexual, or emotional abuse

  • Often feel responsible for other people’s emotions

  • Struggle to set boundaries

  • Notice recurring relationship patterns you don’t fully understand

  • Feel triggered by situations that seem small but feel overwhelming

  • Are a woman (22–55) exploring how childhood trauma continues to shape your relationships and self-worth

Plain-Language Summary

I provide EMDR-based, trauma-focused therapy for children (8+), teens, and adults in North Carolina who are healing from childhood emotional neglect, abuse, and family-based trauma. I also work with individuals experiencing trauma-related PTSD.

Much of my practice centers on women ages 22–55 who are unpacking how early relational wounds continue to affect their self-esteem, attachment patterns, and emotional well-being.
